What Is this about

I am not a new blogger in fact I have been around in my other blog I am a Christian with a varied background (Baptist, Pentecostal, A bit of LDS, Church of Christ, and crazy cult influence.

I am still a Christian in that I follow Jesus Christ and though many will call this controversial, I believe he is the way to heaven. Now I am no longer sure that one must call him Jesus to get to heaven. Nor am I sure that other ways may not lead to the same place. I am sure that for me, Jesus is still Lord. Why am I clarifying this, because I am about to embark on a journey that drifts far from orthodox Christianity and into the world of mysticism, meditation, and Buddhism.

Now the Buddha never claimed to be God. He was before Jesus therefore he was not a Christian. I believe he may well have been a Christ follower had he lived 1000 years later. I believe the Buddha was a man of God and spoke much truth. I dont think he was God and I do believe Jesus was/is God. Therefore the Buddha's teachings are not on a par with Jesus, however, in reading them, I have noticed that the Buddha's words are very similar to that of Jesus.

Buddhists seem to have a great grasp on teachings and practices that were rejected by many in the Church. There were some exceptions such as the Desert Fathers, John of the Cross, etc.

I have started practicing meditation. I am primarily interested in Vipassana meditation. However Zen has some real appeal as well.

I am not a Buddhist but meditation has helped me have an awareness of God within. This would be called Enlightenment (or the road to Enlightenment) by Buddhists or Jesus in your heart by Christian. Neither of which are in the Bible by the way. Christ is within. The Kingdom of God is within you.

I plan to document my journey and what kinds of experiences I have in meditation here. My other blog will continue to be a mishmash of life and this one will be just Meditation and where it leads me. I will use a mix of Buddhist, Christian, and other terms hear so no dogma allowed
